Sedation – Oral Sedation & Nitrous Oxide

Some people are anxious when they see the dentist and are not able to relax enough to receive treatment. Queenston Dental offers oral sedation and nitrous oxide sedation. Both are very safe and effective ways of having treatment done for nervous or anxious patients.

Oral sedation involves taking an oral sedative prior to coming to your appointment. Your vital signs and comfort level will be monitored throughout your visit.  You will need to be driven to your appointment and will need a ride home.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation or “laughing gas” is used for its pain blocking or reducing effects. It is inhaled through a small nasal mask and helps the patient feel relaxed and comfortable throughout their treatment. The amount of gas received is monitored and controlled by the dentist throughout the visit. Once the mask is removed, you will likely be able to drive yourself home  and carry on with your day as normal.
